Mira Dhond, Biotech Instructor (PBSC and PBLHS)

This summer, three students from PBL’s very own Biotech Academy–Delroy Baker, Keiondra Marshall, and Akiliaha Rankine–participated in PBSC’s Biotechnology summer internship.  Also in attendance were students from Suncoast and Oxbridge. The interns practiced industrial biotech processes and methods, including DNA extraction and amplification, gene cloning, nucleic acid and protein electrophoresis, and DNA fingerprinting.

BT Academy’s very own Akiliaha, Delroy, and Keiondra were featured in the September issue of PBSC’s newsletter! All three completed the summer internship at PBSC’s intensive biotech bootcamp.
  • Akiliaha (11th grade) is our biotech sweetheart and a budding forensic psychologist.
  • Delroy (12th grade) currently takes all college courses under Dual Enrollment, and is on track to become state-certified as a biotechnician assistant.
  • Keiondra (12th grade) has a grueling schedule this year as the senior class SGA President, member of the Varsity Basketball team (state finalist last year), and is also on track to become state-certified as a biotechnician assistant. She is deeply interested in marine biology.
