Fire Truck Drive-By!

Tera Hands, Choice Coordinator

The Fire Academy at PBL leagued with the Fire Rescue units from West Palm Beach and Riviera Beach to surprise the students at Roosevelt Middle and John F. Kennedy Middle, respectively.

The fire trucks conducted a drive-by on both schools and allowed the 8th grade interested students to get up close and personal with the trucks and the fire fighters and EMT’s. It was a real treat to see the students’ faces as they learned about the fire industry and climbed up on the trucks. They asked a lot to really great questions, and the fire fighters were happy to answer.

The purpose of the visits was to encourage students to apply for the Fire Academy at Palm Beach Lakes Community High School. The fire industry is looking to add more people of color and females to its profession. At Lakes, they can hit two birds with one stone. The academy, though, is only open to those students who are zoned for PBL.

It was a great day, indeed, for the Rams and the prospective Rams from JFK and RMS!
