Team of the Weekend: Palm Beach Lakes – The Rams came into the weekend after suffering two losses at the Junior Orange Bowl and you would have to think were underdogs (by perception) to both Seffner Christian and Ribault but came away with two wins. Against Seffner Palm Beach Lakes used a denial defense in the final quarter against Chelsie Hall to force other players for Seffner into handling the ball. Kayla Thigpen knocked down a 3 and was fouled in the last minutes of the game to put Lakes ahead for good, a play which Seffner was unable to over come. Lakes is DEEP and they get up and down the floor. Kids at Lakes play hard and just play almost at a faster speed then Seffner and Ribault did in the two games this weekend. Against Ribault Lakes jumped out to a double figure lead early in the game, the Trojans ended up regaining the lead in the 3rd Quarter but in the 4th although the game was back and forth Lakes pulled away with the win. Lakes is good because they are as athletic or more athletic than any team I have seen all year and they are given the freedom to go play. Kayla Thigpen is a great get for UCF, I did not get to see Thigpen in the summer but she has come to play with a huge senior year. The Dove sisters and Johnson are unsigned players who could impact several rosters at the next level.
