Teacher Academy Contract Signing Day
June 3, 2015
One of the bonuses of being an FCCP Teacher Academy Graduate is the Contract Signing Day! The state of Florida and the district of Palm Beach County believes in the rigor of the four-year academy and the experiences provided the students by the program. To show it, each year, Matthew Temple (Human Resources with the district of PBC), facilitates the signing of senior contracts. The contract states that if the TA graduates go on to earn an education degree from an accredited college or university, then the district will give the TA graduate PRIORITY HIRING…basically, that means a job with Palm Beach County Schools right out of college! In other words, for all those who are interested or undecided, membership in the Teacher Academy at Palm Beach Lakes High Schools translates into dollars…a professional job.
This year, our feature graduate is Tyra Adderly. She has been in the academy since her freshman year at PBL. Tyra will be attending Florida A & M University in the fall, and of course, her intended major is Elementary Education. In Tyra’s words, the greatest advantage of her academy experience is “signing a contract at the end of [her] senior year with a guaranteed job.” In her FCCP Graduate Reflection, Tyra said of her student teaching assignment at Seminole Trails Elementary School, “I loved teaching my students.” Congratulations, Tyra. We are proud of you and look forward to adding your name to the TA Graduate Wall of Fame.
